"It’s hard not to be impressed with the Meaco 20L Platinum. It literally sucks water from the air and had no problem dealing with the harsh test conditions we put it through. It is really easy to use, comes packed with energy saving features and can be left to run virtually unattended. When compared to other refrigerant dehumidifiers we believe this one comes out on top and, because it is backed by Meaco’s fanatical support, is a perfect buy which you can have complete confidence in." Is it cost-efficient?

We’re often contacted by customers who are worried about the costs of running a dehumidifier, particularly if they need to run a unit regularly in order to control damp and condensation.

We have always made our dehumidifiers as efficient as possible to help customers keep costs to a minimum and now, we have taken this to a whole new level.

Compared with other 20L dehumidifier models, the savings with our Low Energy dehumidifier can be huge – more than £100 per year. The Which? review notes its cost-effectiveness as well as its performance at low temperatures – something else that not all models can offer.

Remove impurifications from the air

The free HEPA filter included with this unit is proving to be very popular with customers. It is the only type of filter that you can buy with a dehumidifier, and it remove allergens smaller than the eye can see, such as pollen, dust mites, mould spores and pet dander. This helps to keep the air in your home pure, providing a more comfortable environment.

*The unique Meaco control logic means that you get the best balance between saving money and accurate dehumidification. When the target relative humidity has been reached the dehumidifier will switch to fan only mode to check that the relative humidity is stable. It will then go to sleep for 30 minutes at which time it will wake up and run it's fan again to check the relative humidity once more. If the relative humidity has risen above the set point then the dehumidifier will start to operate again. If the relative humidity is OK then the dehumidifier will go back to sleep again for another 30 minutes. This process saves a lot of money on electricity, especially when compared against dehumidifiers which keep their fans running permanently regardless of the level of humidity in the room.

A little noisy but effective

A bit noisier than I thought it would be so we can't have it running upstairs at night where we need it most, but it is doing a good job of removing moisture from a poorly ventilated kitchen with a very weak cooker extractor, which used to develop mould in various places every winter. Unfortunately I don't think the removal of moisture/condensation extends to the furthest away bedrooms (it's a 4 bed house) from its current location, which is not as central as we'd like due to drafts from outside and noise, but it seems to have reduced it a little. If we were able to have it running upstairs at night I'm sure it would do the job.

Does what it says on the tin

Very good, extracts water, turns itself on and off as required. Only complaint is it is a little bit noisy when on the high fan setting but that really is being picky!

Works well & is efficient

This has done the job! Struggled with mould and condensation this soggy winter - so bought this to help extract excess moisture from the air and keep condensation and mould in check - and it seems to be doing the job! It's too noisy to have on during the night (we keep it in the landing) - but we use it in the day and turn it off at night therefore. I empty the tank every few days. I've only had it a few weeks - but I've noticed a difference already! Would recommend

Does work a treat, 1 drawback and 1 problem just 3 months in...

Bought a Meaco 20L Platinum about 3 months ago. Worked really well, pulled 6L water out everyday for a few days then calmed down to now removing 6L every 2.5 days. The windows used to be dripping with condensation, but this is now down to a small line of condensation on the lowest part of the windows - it all depends on the temperature outside. We have a fairly large home, and all 4 bedrooms are generally condensation free. Knocked off a star as I have an issue just a few months in - the motorised louvre just flops about – once at either extreme, it just stays there, so it either stays fully open, or closes completely as if the machine is not working when clearly it is! Another star knocked off for the noise - my goodness, it is like having 4 or 5 fans on at the same time. You can't really keep bedroom doors closed at night as it defeats the purpose of removing moisture, but suppose that's the trade off, just didn't think it would be this loud given all the reviews out there. Overall, I'm a tad gutted that a only a few weeks into running it, something so simple has already packed up….confidence levels wane with regards to how long this thing will last. It’s not exactly cheap and not something that I planned on replacing every couple of years.

Meaco (U.K.) Limited

Hi, Thank you for your review. The two faults you are complaining about suggest that your dehumidifier has been damaged in transit (as they are both not the normal behaviour of the dehumidifier, but are both a result of damage in transit). We have arranged for a member of staff to contact you regarding this issue. Thank you for your understanding!
