Community Sponsorships

At Meaco, we believe in giving back, both to charities
but also to local communities.

One of the ways we do this is by supporting the local clubs, teams and community organisations that matter most to our colleagues. Explore the partnerships we're involved in below and see how we're supporting communities across the UK. We’re proud to be making a difference!

Huntingdon Stags Rugby Team

Matt, our engineer, coaches his son’s under-15s rugby club, the Huntingdon Stags. When they were in need of a sponsor for post-match tops, Meaco stepped in. Attracting big sponsors can be extremely difficult, especially for Age Grade teams, so when Meaco offered to help, it meant a lot.

Not only were the young players able to feel a sense of belonging as a team when they engaged in the country-wide tradition of eating and socialising with the opposition, but the coaches were able to use the tops as part of a team-building process – and it worked.

The boys proudly wore their Meaco-sponsored tops throughout a fantastic season, which saw them win the Cambridgeshire County Cup and earn promotion to the top league of Midlands Age Grade rugby. The coaches and I would like to thank Meaco for being part of these young players’ sporting journey.

Matt

Sheffield Oaks Rugby Team

Our Customer Services Manager, Josh, plays rugby for Sheffield Oaks, which has gone from a barely-there team that had to borrow players for matches they’d lose every week, to a full, thriving team that’s been undefeated the whole home season!

Now in the Counties Yorkshire 4 League, they’re a welcoming, family-friendly bunch that promotes fair play, helps local charities and rewards those who show commitment.

We've come a long way since we began: We're moving up into the main league and we're even bringing back our second team – something we couldn't have imagined a few years ago. With the club celebrating its 50th anniversary next year, Meaco's support couldn't have come at a better time. It’ll enable us to keep recruiting and build better facilities which will help take us from strength to strength.

Josh

Limax Volleyball Team

The nephew of our colleague Dannis only started playing volleyball at age 16, but was soon discovered by talent scouts; after just two years, he has this year received his first professional contract with Limax!

Dannis says: “With my nephew studying at Eindhoven University and playing volleyball in Maaseik, Belgium, Meaco’s support enables him to travel for mid-week training instead of having to choose between the two. We’re both extremely grateful to Meaco for this and I can’t wait to see him compete in the Olympics one day.”

North Town Athletic Football Team

North Town Athletic is the team of our Customer Service Advisor, Louis. Meaco’s support means a lot to him and his team:

“Without them, we wouldn't be able to fund things like training, equipment or even buy a kit to play in! Since Meaco has been a sponsor, we’ve been promoted from Division 5 to Division 3, winning the league on both occasions and also winning a divisional cup which we played at Farnborough football stadium.”

Cardiff Met University Australian Football League

The brother of our Marketing Director, Siobhan, plays for Cardiff Met University’s Australian Football League team not only in the UK but also in international tournaments, such as the Copa de Barcelona.

Both the men’s and women’s teams have been winners in recent years, and the League has even produced fourteen past and present international athletes!

As the AFL team isn’t a mainstream sport, it doesn’t receive much funding, so the support Meaco provides to buy kits really makes a difference. We’re proud to support such a talented team – it’s wonderful to see these young athletes fulfill their potential.

Siobhan

Newport Pagnell Town Football Club

Newport Pagnell Town Football Club is the grassroots youth team which is coached by Michael, the uncle of our Marketing Director, Siobhan. Along with the other coaches, Michael helps make the sport fun, enjoyable and safe for the young team, which in turn improves their teamwork and social skills, physical health and mental wellbeing.

Delighted with Meaco’s support, he says: “The rising costs of kit and facilities means that grassroots football has become expensive, so the matchday programme that Meaco sponsors helps keep the game affordable and accessible for everyone.”

The Mill Primary Academy

Jordan, our Business Support Manager, has a strong connection to his old primary school, The Mill Primary Academy – his mum has worked there for over 20 years
and all his siblings also attended.

When my mum told me about the Sponsor a Square campaign, Meaco was delighted to lend its support. As a result of the campaign, the school’s now able to have the pitch in use for four hours after sunset, Monday to Friday, giving over 200 children and adults across Crawley access to the pitch and its opportunities. This also brings in extra funds from bookings, which all goes straight back into the school to provide experiences, resources and improvements that will make a real difference to the children at The Mill. So my thanks to Meaco for playing a part in making this happen – that’s what community is all about!
