Cooling where you need it

Portable air conditioners are a practical cooling solution for homes, flats, offices, conservatories, summerhouses and other spaces where permanent air conditioning is not suitable or affordable. Their freestanding design means you can move cooling to where it is needed most. Whether your bedroom at night, your home office during the day, or a living space during summer, you can be cool no matter the context.

Selected models include Cooling, Dry, Fan and Heat Mode, giving you more flexibility across the season, not just those stifling summer days. Cooling Mode helps bring down the temperature on hot days. Dry Mode helps reduce excess moisture in the air for greater comfort when the humidity is high. Fan Mode supports airflow without active cooling, and Heat Mode on selected models adds useful warmth when temperatures drop.

Home air conditioners built for convenience

Meaco air conditioners are easy to set up and use, with window kits included to help vent warm air outside and keep cooler air inside. These easy-to-use kits help you fit the exhaust duct and reduce gaps around the window opening.

App control on selected models also makes it easy to switch the unit on before you enter the room. This gives you the flexibility to cool a bedroom, living space or home office in advance for comfort as soon as you walk through the door.

For the best results, we recommend pairing your Meaco portable air conditioner with one of our MeacoFan Air Circulators. This helps distribute cooler air more evenly around the room and can make the space feel more comfortable.

Designed in the UK for your home and lifestyle

Created by our in-house UK design team, MeacoCool Cirro® combines practical controls with a considered design that fits comfortably into everyday living spaces.

Cirro® has been designed to make cooling less disruptive. Super Quiet mode operates at 45 dB, which is around half the noise of our previous portable air conditioners. It helps you enjoy a cooler room while you unwind, work or settle down for the night.

Cirro+® models are engineered with inverter technology to adjust the compressor’s speed as cooling demand changes. Instead of repeatedly switching on and off at full power, they adjust their output incrementally to maintain your chosen temperature, helping reduce energy use and temperature fluctuations.

Air Conditioner FAQs

Get answers to all your air conditioner questions.

How easy is a portable air conditioner to use?

Meaco portable air conditioners are designed to make cooling simple. Place the unit in a suitable position, connect the exhaust duct and window kit following the instructions, then choose your mode and target temperature.

Selected models can also be controlled through the Meaco app, so you can adjust settings from your phone or turn the air conditioning on before you arrive home on a hot summer’s day, or before you go to bed for a more comfortable night’s sleep. All models include a remote control, making it easy to switch between modes and fan speeds from across the room. If you need replacement parts or setup accessories, you can also shop Air Conditioner Spares.

Which home air conditioner is best?

The best home air conditioner depends on your needs. You should factor in the size of the room, the level of cooling you need and whether you want cooling only or a model with heating too. As a general rule, larger rooms need a higher BTU output, while smaller rooms may only need a lower-capacity model.

Look for a portable air conditioner with the right cooling capacity for your space, efficient performance, easy controls and a window kit that suits your home. If you want to cool a room before bedtime or before you arrive home, app-controlled models can be especially useful.

How much does an AC unit cost in the UK?

The cost of a portable air conditioner in the UK depends on the model, BTU output, features and whether it includes heating. Higher-BTU models and inverter models usually sit higher in the range because they are designed for more powerful or efficient cooling. It’s always worth sizing up your air conditioner to ensure you reach your target temperature quickly for relief in the heat.

A portable air conditioner is usually much more affordable than installing a fixed air conditioning system because there is no permanent installation required. Your main costs are the unit itself and the electricity used while it is running. Models with inverter technology, such as some Meaco Cirro® units, adjust their output dynamically which reduces running costs, so these are worth looking into if energy usage is one of your key concerns.

How much does it cost to install an air conditioner?

Meaco portable air conditioners do not require professional installation. They are freestanding units, so you place the unit in a suitable position, connect the duct and window kit, then plug it in.

The included window kits help vent warm air outside and keep cooler air inside. This makes a portable air conditioner a flexible option if you want effective cooling without the cost, disruption or commitment of fixed air conditioning.

What is inverter technology?

Inverter technology lets the compressor vary its speed to match the cooling needed. Once your room approaches the temperature you’ve selected, it will adjust its output incrementally to help maintain a steady temperature more efficiently. You’ll find this technology in our Cirro+® models.

Is it cheaper to use fans or air conditioning?

Fans are cheaper to buy and usually cost less to run than air conditioning, but they will not reduce the air temperature. A fan moves air around the room and across your skin, helping you feel cooler. An air conditioner actively removes heat from the air to lower the room temperature.

For maximum comfort and relief in the heat, we recommend using both together. A portable air conditioner can cool or precool the room. A MeacoFan Air Circulator will move the cooler air around more evenly for additional cooling comfort on hot days.
