Winner of PBO and Sailing Today awards – ideal for boats, garages and workshops

The current version of the Meaco DD8L Junior represents the very best domestic dehumidification technology available today. We have used our experience and customer feedback to refine what was already a class leading dehumidifier.

  • Winner of the PBO dehumidifier tests
  • Winner of the Sailing Today independent test
  • Helps to prevent condensation, mould and damp issues
  • Desiccant drying system makes this a quieter dehumidifier
  • Particularly popular for boats, garages and workshops

Description

This is a great value dehumidifier that offers excellent performance and quiet operation. It’s proven to reduce or eliminate mould spores, condensation and other damp issues and helps to improve the quality of the air you are living or working in.

  • 8 litres a day extraction, which is equivalent to a 16 or 20 litre compressor dehumidifier
  • Running costs from 5.02p/hour based on 15.2p/kWh
  • New easier graphical control panel
  • Up to 80% reduction in running costs
  • Intelligent Meaco control system
  • Small and lightweight
  • Quiet operation
  • Great for drying washing

We have introduced technology that reduces the time that your dehumidifier needs to run, helping to lower your energy use and ensure that the unit is only working when it needs to. Instead of running continuously, or just turning off when the target relative humidity is reached, the Meaco DD8L Junior runs for five minutes when the target is reached and then turns itself off. After 30 minutes, it turns on again, re-checks the target and either runs again until the target is reached, or turns itself off again if everything is fine. It repeats this process every 30 minutes, so your unit is only running for 1/6th of the time of a standard unit, keeping your costs to a minimum.

A useful, value-for-money unit

Dry your laundry with the DD8L Junior Laundry mode, which dries your washing faster and prevents water from the clothes from doing any damage around the home.

You can also select a quiet fan speed, independent of the relative humidity that you might wish to select.  This ensures that the DD8L Junior will stay in quiet mode whenever you want absolute quiet, so you can use it overnight without disturbing your sleep.

And, importantly, the DD8L Junior turns off when the internal bucket is full and the bucket itself has a splash proof cover to make sure that not a drop is split as you pour the water away.

This dehumidifier comes with a two-year parts and labour warranty, which can be extended to five years.

Great for drying clothes

I'm very impressed with this dehumidifier. I'm actually stunned at how much water it can remove in a short space of time. I've been using it to dry clothes in a large walk-in cupboard, and it generally takes a few hours to dry a load of clothes including heavy items like towels or jeans. The 2l tank fills up within a few hours. Very impressed with the service, ordering and delivery (having had a bad experience with a different UK brand ordered from a discount website!)

Excellent product. Much better at drying washing than a tumble drier in the winter or wet weather. Also use it in the winter months by leaving it running in the lounge overnight. I have Economy 7 electric so it is quite cheap and the heat it generates raises the temperature a few degrees making it easier and quicker for the gas central heating in the morning.

Customer review

I bought two of these to help dry my mother's flood-damaged house - half the river Severn came in, twice. The Good 1) small and efficient units 2) although the swoopy design is a bit dated, they are well made, high-quality mouldings etc. The Bad 1) Poor design thinking in that water tray pulls out from the back of the unit, not the front, so the control panel is effectively upsidedown from the side you need to access, why? 2) Both the printed manual and the current online one on Meaco's website state that "It is possible to connect the drainage hose (included in the box) to the dehumidifier for permanent water drainage. NO, IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE BOX. I searched through the rubbish to see if I'd throw it by accident, checking back with appliances direct, and then Meaco's own site, it says it was previously included, but now sold as an accessory for £12.50 each plus postage for 2m. Same internal diameter silicone tubing on a well-known forest named book company's site is less than that price for 5m. Meaco says they did a customer survey and 98% of customers throw the tube away and prefer to endlessly empty the tray, a statistic I can scarcely believe, especially if you can sell the previously included tube as a valuable accessory. (Even if you didn't attach it to the dehumidifier, wouldn't most people hang onto a useful 2m length of silicone tube? They would not share the survey when asked) They also claim they are saving plastic waste for the environment. Good, but if so environmentally concerned, why do Meaco use four large chunks of non-recyclable expanded polystyrene to pack each of these dehumidifiers and not cardboard pulp forms. Meaco seem to be very selectively environmentally aware.
