The MeacoDry Arete® 18, 20 and 25L dehumidifiers can be used with this MeacoDry Arete® Pump so you don’t have to empty the bucket by hand.

Designed exclusively for the MeacoDry Arete® range, the pump requires no expertise to set up and install, everything has been made easy for you. It is compatible with both Arete® One 18, 20 and 25L and Arete® Two 18, 20 and 25L Dehumidifiers.

If you are using your dehumidifier in a space whereby you will not be able to empty the tank everyday then why not use the pump and drain the water away to a sink, bath or out of the window?  That way the dehumidifier will continue to work and will not stop when the tank is full waiting for you to empty it.

Power for the pump comes from the dehumidifier itself and included within the box is 3m of hose (internal diameter of 9mm).

To install, place the pump in the bottom of the tank, push on the hose, guide the hose and power cable out of the left-hand side of the tank, plug the power lead into the socket on Arete® and take the hose to wherever you want the water to go. That is all there is to it, now every time the tank is full the pump will turn on and will pump the water away.

This is another reason why the MeacoDry Arete® is the best dehumidifier we have ever made.

Unit, pump and hose need a little more thought to integrate seamlessly

When the pump works, it pumps water out efficiently. However, there are significant issues with the compatibility of an in-tank pump with the supplied flimsy, flexible hose.

It is marketed as an advantage to have the pump inside the tank as an integrated part of the system. In practice, this makes any problem-solving difficult, as you have to negotiate wire and hose every time you remove the tank. If you need to manually empty, this becomes awkward.

The position of the pump at the base of the tank necessitates pumping upward first to remove water through the top of the tank. Unless you site the machine directly underneath the intended drainage point, the flimsy hose then flops and sags over any horizontal distance, causing airlocks and pressure issues. Even if you support the hose upwards along the wall for its horizontal run, it sags again once the weighty water is being pumped, as it is flimsy and expandible. Not to mention the issue of trying to affix and keep this hose taut when attached to a free-wheeled unit.

Unfortunately, the only effective way to run this without drilling through the wall, is to have the unit directly underneath a sink, therefore housed in either the kitchen or bathroom. The former is unlikely to be in a central position in the house, the latter will have no electrical outlet.

It seems to me that little thought has gone into the practicalities of using this supposedly whole-house unit (which should ideally be placed farily central in the house)…

This pump is a true game changer

This pump is a true game changer!

I just wish I had come across it sooner, as it saves so much hassle in emptying the water every other day. Whilst it is not cheap, it is well worth the money and does exactly as it says, and easy to fit too!
