MeacoCool MC Series 14000

Have only used the unit in a function test so far but found it quite noisy when refrigeration kicks in. Only given three stars because of the vent window fittings. Obviously this is a portable unit but I'm sure a better system could be designed given the interest to do so.

Works well , but as I'm in a rented flat I can t have fitted air con and like all new builds we don't have sash windows , An electrical company needs to solve the air out duct needing to be fed out of the window without inclining the hose more than 30 degrees. You have to be very creative or keep giving the machine a break. Why cant the hose come out of the top of the machine? or can somebody sell a type of platform to raise the machine safely? with climate change and lots more people in cities living in flats , air con is only going to get bigger and bigger business. We bought this to replace a 10 year old portable aircon which was very noisy. (another make). This is certainly quieter although let's face it, no aircons are exactly quiet by their very nature! However, it is a much better model in that it is lighter and appears less bulky due to it's design, with the added bonus of curved corners. The best bit is that it is quick to lower the temperature to the required level. We are very pleased with it, as we are with quiet Meaco fan we bought last year. Excellent company, excellent products.

I have to say this must be the quietest fan on the planet! I can leave it on during the night without it disturbing anyone. I'm very impressed with everything about it - the teensy remote is wonderful (no getting out of bed to switch it off) and having 12 speeds too is absolutely amazing. Due to the 2 hottest days last week (it was 29 degrees in the bedroom) I had it on No 9 speed (marvellous) and it performed extremely well I must say, even though it was on this high speed, it didn't blast me off the bed, still gentle and very welcoming. Arrived in a couple of days - just in time for the mini heatwave - wow! Well worth the price all round. Great, puts a lot of other fans to shame.

Well! This is summer and I bought the machine really for the colder, damper, winter months. Even so, the humidity outside, in northern part of UK, is RhH 75 - 95 . Would the machine get down to the 60 percent RH setting? The air felt dry to the face, well before the machine turned off! One very positve effect on these humid days was that I was not rushing to get fresh air , as per usual by sitting near an opened window . The air inside was more pleasant to breath, even with the little additional heat that the machine produces. My reaction to all the water collected ( up to 3/4 L ) per session, was that if it works this well in this season, when there is no condensation, then it should be great extra tool for climate control and comfort, when temps outside are below 5 deg C. I will therefore expect the machine to be of daily use in the winter . Especially in bathroom and kitchen areas where there is inadequate ventilation, and extraction of air. No doubt too about the health effects with carpets holding less moisture and therefore no need to consider replacing them with resistant laminate flooring. Also, too, a healthy addiction for anyone with a large wardrobe collection. And, with the need to open the windows less often, the house is quieter with less instrusive city sounds. So, conclusion? I feel more comfortable for longer periods, in the house when I really need to be there!
