The very best in dehumidifier design

Welcome to the latest in dehumidifier design: the new Arete range. This collection has been in development for five years, with our dedicated British design team working closely with more than 2000 customers to find out exactly what makes the perfect dehumidifier.

We chose the name Arete because she is the Greek Goddess of Excellence in all things. That was our goal with this new range – and we think it’s what we have achieved. With real attention to detail and exhaustive testing and trails, we believe this is the perfect dehumidifier.

This is our most energy efficient dehumidifier range yet. Ultra-quiet and with a host of special features, living with Arete will be a breeze.

If you have problems with condensation, damp, mould or high humidity, Arete is the answer – whether for your home, conservatory, garage, boat, caravan or workshop.

'If you want to tackle damp in your home, then you can trust the MeacoDry Arete One to get the job done.' - T3 Platinum Award 2021

Making Arete part of your home

The feedback from our customers showed that dehumidifiers are part of the furniture. So it matters what it looks like and that it can stay out of your way. Arete is not only stylishly designed – it’s also very practical. It sits flush to the wall and we have added feet to make it look more furniture-like, and hidden the castors away.

Shhhhhh … the quietest dehumidifier

One of the best outcomes from looking at all the customer feedback was to hear about where they put their unit. For many people, the dehumidifier sits near the bedroom, so keeping the noise down is obviously important. Following the success of our very quiet ABC range, we worked to see if we could make the Arete any quieter without losing any other features. Over 18 months, we trialled and tested various options in order to come up with the quietest dehumidifier units we have ever made. In fact, at 40dB, Arete is twice as quiet as the industry standard.

Simplicity is key

Arete’s control panel is simple to use and gives you complete control. With large buttons for the most-used functions, you can control the unit with a single touch of a single button – particularly for Smart Humidity Control and Smart Laundry. It’s uncomplicated and efficient – exactly what you need.

"Ease of use and convenience might be the Arete One’s biggest strengths. You barely have to do anything; just turn it on..." Expert Reviews Tried and Tested

Sleep easy with our Night Mode

We learned that lots of units have a Night Mode. But that often comes with an annoying light and noises when you press buttons. Our Night Mode is different. Every light turns off, the fan speed changes to the quietest low mode and there are no random noises. And, with a child lock function, there’s no worry about the Night Mode – or any mode – being accidentally turned off.

Arete’s Night Mode is not just for night-time but anytime when you want the dehumidifier to be as quiet as possible.

Fluid thinking

We know that the thing you do most often is empty the water tank. So we wanted to make sure that was easy to do without too much effort and without annoying spillage.

Arete has a large, 4.8 litre tank. Getting it out of the unit and carrying it to the sink or emptying point needed to be straightforward. So we investigated how other tanks are removed, and what is the best way, ergonomically, to manage the process.

This gave us the central idea for the design of Arete’s water tank and the housing. There are two large slots to the left and right that naturally accommodate your fingers, This gives you a strong hold on the tank, which pulls out smoothly so that you can place it on the floor. An integrated carry handle means you can just pick it up and empty it out. As an extra design feature, we’ve also added a pouring spout on the left and right side, so there’s no need for twisting or changing hands to pour out the water.

What about continuous drainage?

In order to reduce our impact on the environment, we stopped including free drainage hoses with our dehumidifiers several years ago. Instead, Arete has a hose adaptor which allows you to hook up and standard garden hose to the unit for continuous drainage. This helps us all to reduce plastic waste and makes life easier for you..

Cleaning the air in your home

We wanted Arete to be useful all year round. So every Arete One dehumidifier includes a H13 HEPA filter. This is a medical-grade filter that cleans the air during dehumidification, and can also be used as a stand-alone purifier during the warmer months of the year.

Is this our best dehumidifier ever?

We really believe it is. We’ve devoted years of design know-how and all those insights from our customers, and that means Arete is the result of real innovation and collaboration. The added details such as the air purification, the super-quiet operation and the consideration of how the unit fits in with your home means that Arete is at the top of the pile as far as we’re concerned – and we’re looking forward to hearing what you think too!

Very pleased so far

Went for the 25l version even though we only have a 2-bed bungalow as we have a significant humidity problem. This quickly brings the humidity down to our desired level without the need to run it all day, although for the first week we did run it pretty much constantly to kickstart the drying out process. It sits neatly in the hallway and there is not much need to move it, apart from when laundry drying when we move it to a small room and shut the door. It is heavy and although has wheels is still heavy to move around on carpet and needs a slight lift over carpet door strips. Very impressed with the laundry drying function. Although it has been quite warm since we bought it, we haven't felt as cold in the house as we normally do and the atmosphere is generally more comfortable. It will be interesting to see how much less we need to use the central heating over the winter. The noise level is comparable to a much much smaller dehumidifier we were using previously. Overall, so far well worth the price tag, considering the damage to furniture etc it is preventing from excess humidity. The only issue we had was with the delivery - ordered well before the cut-off time on a Thursday for next day delivery but it didn't arrive until the Monday. However, we don't know if this was Meaco's fault or ParcelForce's. However, the response time via email about this was good.

Simple, straightforward and effective

Purchased our first ever dehumidifier to reduce our energy usage when drying clothes over winter. We have a large Victorian house and have been impressed with just how much water the dehumidifier has collected each day. The controls are easy to use, water tank simple to slide out and empty, and when left on in the laundry the noise levels are fine at night (even without night mode). We have been able to dry full loads of laundry within 6 hours and our clothes seem to be drying softer with less creasing than just air drying. No shrinkage or damage like you would get with a tumble dryer. Overall- cheaper to use than our tumble dryer, better for our clothes, better for our bank balance and a well designed product.

Early days but so far, excellent

After having had a faulty dehumidifier from a different company, we have been amazed at how good this one is. Drawing water from the air, the scent of damp has gone completely … it is very simple to use and works really well. The first machine we got tripped our sockets and but Meaco collected and replaced it within 48 hours. We’ve only had the second one less than a week… but so far, so good.

Easy to set up and use. Quiet operation and easy to empty. Works so well the wooden door has shrunk and now fits perfectly. Thanks
