Getting a Good Night’s Sleep!

Chris Michael, Director of Meaco, the UK’s leading air purifier specialist, says there is an escape from the misery of hay fever!

My daughter’s sneezing reminds me that the end of April/start of May signals the start of the peak pollen season for hay fever sufferers, misery that can last into early Autumn.  According to the NHS 95% of hay fever suffers in the UK are allergic to grass pollen and around 25% are allergic to tree pollen.

The tree pollen season mainly runs from late March to Mid-May when the grass pollen season kicks in and runs through to July.  Weed pollen can then keep you sneezing right through to the end of September.

So pretty tough for anyone who struggles with hay fever. But there are actions that can be taken to reduce the effects, such as installing an air purifier, which will make a difference when in an office or home, and especially when you want to get a good night’s sleep.

Pollen is actually rather easy to remove from the indoor air so long as the size of the air purifier suits the size of the room. MEACO  created MeacoClean, a next generation air purification range that works to clean the air and relieve the suffering caused by these pollutants, by offering a bespoke air purification experience to suit the allergy and room size

Research shows that most people fail to buy the correct air purifier as they do not match the allergy to the filter required, or they buy an air purifier that is too small for their room so it cannot clean the air efficiently.

The more often the air from a room goes through the air purifier each hour, the cleaner the air will become. You should be able to divide a room size into the air purifiers air flow at least three times .This will mean that the air in the room is being cleaned three times an hour.  If the allergy is bad go for 5 times an hour and if the condition is severe then use a factor of 7.

Note to editors: How it works:

The MeacoClean uses several layers of filters to removes a multitude of allergens from the air.  A pre-filter removes the dust, the HEPA filter removes particles smaller than the human eye can see, nasties like dust mites, pollen and mould spores, an activated charcoal filter then deals with smells and chemicals called VOCs that are given off by paints, air fresheners and polishes. (HEPA stands for High-efficiency particulate arrestance and is a type of filter made to an international standard to provide high standard of air cleaning and can be found in air cleaners, premium cars and vacuum cleaners that help to remove pet dander from the air.)

The ultra violet filter then combines with a unique photocatalytic oxidation process with enhanced titanium dioxide to kill bugs and bacteria. (Ultraviolet on its own will not kill bugs so the PCO process speeds up the reaction time to help kill bacteria and viruses)

Finally an ioniser then freshens the air and helps to attract dust particles to the first filter.( Opposites attract and the ions are charged opposite to the dust so that they stick to each other making the dust heavier so that it falls to ground or into the air purifier.)

The MeacoClean range is a lot more advanced than your standard air purifier and the PCO system is the most advanced ant-bacterial/virus system to date.

How the MeacoClean works

The MeacoClean uses an advanced multi-stage air cleaning system to purifier the air:

  1. Firstly, the pre-filter removes large airborne particles.
  2. Secondly the true HEPA filter removes particles from the air as small as 0.3 microns (smaller than the eye can see)
  3. Thirdly the enhanced charcoal filter removes smells and odour
  4. Fourth the combined ultra violet and Photocatalytic Oxidation enhanced Titanium Dioxide (PCO) combine to destroy viruses, germs and bacteria.
  5. Finally the ioniser helps to neutralise dust particles.

MeacoClean’s Finishing Touches

  • The MeacoClean CA-HEPA 76×5 air purifier features a particle counter which varies the air purifiers performance depending on the number of allergens in the air and a colour changing light that indicates the quality of the room air
  • A filter replacement indicator alerts you to replace the filter set (approximately every 6 months).  It also has a sleep mode to reduce the fan speed and turn off the lights to ensure a good night sleep with purified air
  • The enhanced charcoal filter contains 450g +/-20g of charcoal for superior odour removal.  The enhanced charcoal and HEPA filters have a rubber gasket seal to make sure that no air can pass through the air purifier without being cleaned.
  • Both models come with a two year parts and labour warranty.
