Convair Air Coolers cannot be compared to your average air cooler that requires ice to be added to it to achieve some degree of cooling. These Convair air coolers are designed and made in Australia, a country where they know a thing or two about hot summers. In independent tests it has been found that many of the cheap and cheerful air coolers from the Far East achieved no drop in temperature at all. Convair air coolers reduced the air temperature by at least four times as much as the competition. This, together with the superb build quality, are the reasons why Meaco choose Convair. Position the air cooler in front of an open window and keep it topped up with water. On the opposite side of the room have a door or window open to encourage a through breeze. This will maximise cooling and reduce the increase in relative humidity. An air conditioner contains a compressor. This compressor cools a set of coils inside it to remove the heat and the humidity from the air. This heat and the excess humidity is sent to out side. In a portable machine this will be via a hose, in a fixed system this will be via an umbilical cord that connects the inside unit to the outside unit. Either way an air conditioner must be connected to outside. An air conditioner will always cool more effectively than air cooler. Although an air cooler is not as efficient as an air conditioner it does have several advantages. It cools using water and a filter, there is no hose or umbilical cord and the lack of compressor makes it much, much lighter and quieter. Many like the fact that it works in combination with fresh air, i.e. by standing it in front of an open window, and it is certainly a lot cheaper to run (about the same as a light bulb). - 3 speed fan

Meaco are an independent company that started to sell domestic dehumidifiers in 1991 and portable air conditioners in 2000. We sell thousands of units per year and have plenty of experience to know what makes a good unit that will please a customer. In 2008 we started to sell air purifiers, we waited all this time because it was not until we discovered the Airfree range that we felt there was an air purifier on the market worth selling. We don't sell everything that we get offered, in fact we reject more units from manufacturers than we sell. When we look at a model we evaluate it's size, shape, weight, noise, features, prices, build quality and warranty before we decide whether to offer it to you the customer. We try the machines out and we make a judgment as to what they will be like to live with. Only once we have been through this process will we add a dehumidifier or an air conditioner to our portfolio. On our website we try and provide as much information as possible to help you decide which model is right for your application. If you are unsure then you can call the office for free on 0500 418458 to have a chat and get some advice. Once you have made your selection you will find that our prices are low and delivery should be next day because of the large stocks that we hold. All orders placed before 2.30pm on a Monday to Friday are dispatched the same day for delivery the next working day unless you specify delivery on a particular day at the checkout. For a small surcharge you can select delivery either before 12 lunchtime, on a Saturday morning or during the run of the day on a Saturday. These options mean that you do not have to wait in as long for our driver to arrive. All deliveries are carried out by DPD, one of Europe's largest delivery companies. You will receive an email on the day of dispatch from DPD that allows you to track your delivery, and if something comes up, change the day that your order is delivered. All DPD deliveries are made within a one hour window that is emailed to you either the evening before delivery or on the morning of the delivery. The beauty of this system is that you do not have to wait in all day, you only have to wait in for one hour a day. Using the DPD network allows us to deliver to offshore islands, Northern Ireland and Ireland for just a small surcharge which will be applied at the checkout if any of these destinations apply to you. There are no surcharges for anywhere on UK mainland. |
