Portable Air Conditioning to help with allergies

Which air conditioners can beat allergies?

The straight answer is not many.

There are two ways in which air conditioners can help beat allergies.  Firstly by reducing the level of moisture in the air (this is a by-product of cooling) the air conditioner will be reducing the amount of Dust Mites in the room.  This is because Dust Mites reproduce when the humidity is higher.  For more details on Dust Mites and how to control them please click here.

Secondly and more importantly an air conditioner with a good quality filter will remove pollens and dust from the air.  The less irritants in the air the less an asthmatic or someone prone to allergies will react to them.  HEPA filters are best but to date we do not sell an air conditioner with a HEPA filter.  The Amcor PCM15KEH-410 comes with a near HEPA filter, manufactured by industry leaders 3M, that removes 90% of all large pollens.  Technical details for the filter can be found in the shaded box below.

Electrostatically charged Filtrete™ fibres work like tiny magnets to attract and retain more of the micro particles in your air. Each filter delivers up to 3 months performance with the optimal balance of filtration efficiency and air flow. Filtrete™ Micro Particle and Airborne Allergen Reduction Filter for capturing allergy aggravating micro particles of dust, smoke and bacteria.  Also traps most large particles of pollen, mould, lint and pet dander.  Filtrete™ High Performance Clean Air Filter attracts and retains more airborne micro particles of dust, smoke and bacteria.  Filtrete™ Dust Reduction Filter is an electrostatic filter that captures both large particles and micro particles to reduce dust.

38°C in August?

This report in the Daily Express discusses the heat wave that is expected across the U.K. at the end of July through to the middle of August.

The more conservative BBC monthly forecast also talks of very warm weather to come in the South East of England.

This is the weather pattern that Central Europe has been experiencing already this summer, which has caused air conditioning companies to run out of stock throughout mainland Europe.

Please buy now before UK stocks also run out.
