When Chris and Michelle Michael started Meaco started in 1991 the aim was to specialise in monitoring and control equipment for museums and art galleries.  To this end they built a range of products that included dehumidifiers, humidifiers, thermohygrographs, thermohygrometers and other museum orientated measurement instruments.  In 1992 Meaco developed the world's first radio based environmental monitoring system in conjunction with the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.  This gave Meaco a much higher profile and over the next 10 years Meaco established itself as one of the most important suppliers of humidity monitoring and control equipment to museums across Europe.

In 1999 Meaco were approached by Mitsubishi Electric to become their sole distributor for their range of portable dehumidifiers in the U.K.  This was the start of a successful relationship that continues to this day.  The current range of Mitsubishi Electric dehumidifiers can be found here.

In 2005 Chris and Michelle sold the museum side of the business to concentrate their efforts on the rapidly expanding internet sales of domestic dehumidifiers, portable air conditioning and heating products.  Due to the growth in internet purchasing, and hopefully also because of the effort that we put in to looking after our customers, the company turnover has increased rapidly in the past 5 years.

We individually test every dehumidifier we are offered and only the best make it onto this website.  Suppliers find us very frustrating because we reject far more than we sell from the dehumidifiers we are offered, our knowledge is extensive and our standards are exacting.  This logo means that we have taken this product home and used it ourselves, only once we are happy that it will do what customers require will we sell it.  So where you see this logo you know that you are buying something that has been tried and tested and not only does what it claims but it also does it in a user friendly way.  There are products out there that we could sell and make more money, so if a dehumidifier is not on this website, you should ask yourselves why we do not sell it!
